Colin Ramesar- Vice President, Operations
Mr. Colin Ramesar has more than 32 years’ experience in the public service and energy sector. He has held portfolios in maintenance, engineering and operations before being appointed vice president, Operations at PPGPL in October 2019.
In January 1987, Mr. Ramesar joined the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure as a graduate engineer responsible for electrical systems reliability in state buildings. In January 1991, he joined Trintoc, a predecessor company of Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (PETROTRIN) and progressed through various positions in both the upstream and downstream operations in the organization.
Mr. Ramesar participated in several projects including the lease operatorship and Parrylands steam flood initiatives that resulted in increased oil production Later on at the Pointe-a-Pierre Refinery he played an integral part in major technical upgrade and business improvement projects. During the period 2004 to 2008 he spearheaded the implementation of operations excellence initiatives for refinery operations in collaboration with Shell Global Solutions International.
Mr. Ramesar subsequently led performance improvement initiatives across the Refining and Marketing Business and in his last 6 years at PETROTRIN, he was instrumental in implementing various upgrades to utility systems resulting in improved supply reliability.
Mr. Ramesar graduated with a BSc. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1986 and attained a MSc. in Electrical Energy Systems in 1998 both from the University of the West Indies. He is a registered engineer with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT) and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT).
